Do you know America?

America, named for Amerigo Vespucci, discovered or rediscovered by the great Christopher Columbus in search of a direct route to India. Pilgrims board a ship called the "Mayflower",  leave Europe to seek freedom in the America's, make landfall because of beer? The same man who flies a kite in a storm, invents the bi-focal lens, and a safe indoor stove, and gives away his fortune who is he? A young land surveyor turned farmer, leads men into battle loosing most, is never wounded, wins the war, then is called to lead again who am I? Home schooled by mom, becomes a voracious reader, never goes to college but becomes a lawyer, likes hats for storage and becomes the spark that kills nearly a million people who?

Why don't we teach American History anymore? Most kids have no clue how our country started. Who did what and why. The stories behind the men and women who built the greatest civilization the world has ever seen. We seem to be more concerned in teaching students about how bad we are. How we must always be considerate of how people feel and not offend anyone. Facts are no longer important. No one is wrong. No one looses. You don't need to work get welfare. Spend more than you have, spend, spend, the government will bail you out. What's in it for me!

We need start doing the things we did just a few generations ago. Learning the story behind the story. More kids know what their favorite celebrity has for lunch than know how many stripes are on our flag without looking. Do you know? We need to feed the poor from our pockets not the governments. We need to return to a country of laws not of men and "Ask not what your can do for you" and children "ask what you can and  can do for your country".

Oil from Iran

Wow oil companies are turning off their transponders on their oil ships when they enter Iranian waters to load up. Great companies like Shell Oil are hiding their actions. What does this mean for you and I, buy purchasing oil or gas from these companies help support terrorism.

Glen Beck

I am sure I have got your attention by writing about Glen Beck. Yes I do watch him daily and no I do not ware an aluminum hat. Like any commentator, myself included, Glen offers opinions  about what he sees, hears and reads. That being the case you to need to do the same.

For too long we have forgotten what an argument is; simply put it's disagreement in opinion, philosophy, beliefs, etc. Not hurting people's feelings (politically correct) contradicts our parents advice "Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me! Said by one youngster to another calling names. [1894 G. F. Northall Folk-Phrases 23]". Why not speak your mind?

I do way too often I'm told. I am not sensitive or understanding of how my words may hurt other people's feelings. You know what I say, to bad. I am done with being politically correct. I am done hesitating to say something I mean. It's over. I believe you can say what you mean without being rude. This is essence of a good argument, facts.

This is why I like to listen to Glen Beck. What every you think of the guy or his commentary, all of the things he presents are based on facts. No one has challenged his assertions. They have smeared him, called him names, and the like, yet the have not factually disproved anything he has said. We need more men and women like him in the media.

So I say watch a show or read one of his books. You will be amazed at what you will find. Here are the ones I own.

Stocks rise and Fall

The recent actions in Europe, mainly Greece, have demonstrated why we need to have a tighter control on our money supply. Since its creation in 1913, the Federal Reserve (If you don't know it is a private company not a government agency, click to see video) has been controlling interest rates and is the sole provider of currency (our money supply). This by far has been and will, if we allow it to continue, destroy our freedoms(and the borrower is the slave of the lender. Proverbs 22:7).

If you take away anything from this, realize what is happening in Greece is our future. The riots are not because there is no food or money, the people who were given public assistance (welfare, unemployment benefits, rent and mortgage assistance, etc.) can't under stand why the people who are paying the taxes to keep them can not keep up with government spending. Wow sounds like us (check out the US Debt Clock). As it shows we are in debt for about $12.9 trillion or about $118,000 per tax payer. Wait it gets better. Scroll down the page and discover that the true number is $108.7 trillion about $352,000 per person, no not tax payer, per person living in the United States, you, your children and theirs.

Our population is about 310 million of whom only 110 million us pay taxes. With numbers like these how will we ever get out of debt? Why are only about a third of us paying for everyone else? Car companies, banks, insurance companies, and other getting welfare, when they should be making money or going out of business. This is not the change many had hoped for. So what should we do?

Economist Dr. Arthur Laffer, creater of the Laffer Curve, has come up with a solution to fix our economy. Remove the current progressive tax system and replace it with a flat tax of between 11 and 12 percent. A difficult tax to get passed because of all the subsidies, corporate welfare, and tax brakes individuals and businesses enjoy. Also this means everyone. If you work for every dollar you make, you will pay 11 to 12 cents of it to the government. People like me who pay more than 11 to 12 cents on every dollar I make love the idea, it's convincing the two thirds who pay no taxes to also contribute. Next action, cut Federal Government Spending by half or more. No more spending money to save mice (ask Nancy Peloci about that), or any other stuff that waste money (Pork Spending). Return States rights or respect the 10th Amendment, when the national debt is paid repeal the 16th Amendment, and lastly repeal the Federal Reserve Act.

It is a fantastic plan and a plan that is equal justice for all.
